Greenbrae is part of greater Larkspur and much of the housing here was built starting around the 1940’s. Prior to the area being developed it was a hillside dairy and the name of the place has origins from Scottish dialect. In fact, the term "Brae" means "The Steep Bank" or "The Hillside" in ancient English. For this reason, Greenbrae is named literally the "Green Hill". The city is well known to offer stunning views of not only the San Francisco Bay but also the beautiful Corte Madera Creek and Mt. Tamalpais. The recently updated Bon Air shopping center has numerous restaurants and shopping opportunities. Nearby the wonderful Marin Country Mart boutique shopping center and the Golden Gate Ferry for quick trips into San Francisco. Centered in the middle of Marin, Greenbrae is perfect both for adventure seekers and the need to commute back to San Francisco.
